Tired of your strappy tops and slinky dresses ending up on the closet floor? It’s time to incorporate a few non slip hangers into your closet. We’ve all seen the clever DIY ways to create no-slip hangers, but which style works the best? I tried the three most popular non slip options are found on Pinterest: pipe cleaner (chenille stems), rubber bands and hot glue gun. I’ve even included another option – a DIY padded hanger that can also be used as a no-slip hanger option.

Padded Foam Hangers
I like this hanger more for the padded aspect than as a no-slip hanger option since the bulk takes up more precious closet space and that is something I hate to part with. But, when winter rolls around, this is the perfect option for hanging sweaters while keeping their shape.
Directions: DIY Padded Hangers

Rubber Band No-Slip Hangers
The quicker, the better for me. I really liked this option as a DIY quick solution for creating a non-slip hanger. Just about everyone has rubber bands laying about. This thicker style of rubber band seemed to work the best. Super-duper easy to assemble and really did the trick for keeping slinky or light-weight fabrics on the hanger. *winner winner winner!

Pipe Cleaner – Chenille Stems Gripper Hangers
If you happen to have these chenille stems in your craft box, then give this style of non-slip hanger a try. These colorful chenille stems can add a little personalized style to your hanger and they only take a few minutes to assemble. You’ll find they work pretty well for light weight fabrics that tend to slip off hangers. With a few tweaks this design can also be modified to accommodate strappy items as well.

Hot Glue Gun Slip-Free Hangers
This DIY no-slip hanger option was pretty much a DIY FAIL for me. There was more time and effort involved with this option than the others. The dots, stripes or squiggles from the hot glue gun really didn’t do anything for keeping items on the hanger.
